The first session involves a clinical intake, which means I will ask you questions about different areas of your life. These areas range from mental health history through social support/ family history, to wellness habits. The purpose of the intake is to help me get to know you better and understand if I am the right fit to help you meet your goals. We will discuss your goals for therapy and a general plan will be outlined by the end of the appointment. I always allow time for you to ask me questions as well.

There is no time like the present is a common saying of mine. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and active. In almost all of my sessions, I am guiding a client through an exercise or practice. Sometimes the client actively engages in a behavior that they have been avoiding outside of session, but is a value of theirs. For example, if a client wants to work on deleting their emails, but experiences anxiety thinking about the task, I would have them open their inbox and together we would work on clearing their emails. I frequently lead clients through a body scan or a meditation and then send them that specific recording for them to continue practicing outside of session.
Sessions typically follow a model of working towards your goals while incorporating any other parts of life that may be impacting you that week. It is common that we set an agenda in the beginning of the appointment, so we both know what matters to you the most that day.

Yes, the assignments help you engage in behaviors that are most meaningful to you and create sustainable change. Homework can range from completing worksheets, through practicing noticing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, to engaging in daily exposure tasks, such as going on walks for 5 minutes a day. My clients often share that they learned a lot from their practice and enjoy the exercises.
Insurance & Fees
-
I am in-network with Aetna California and New York plans. All other insurance companies are considered out-of-network. A 50 minute session costs $275 and payment is due at the time of session. Payment can be made through any major credit/debit card.
-
A monthly “superbill” is provided for you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Please note that every insurance plan is different; some may not provide any reimbursement and others may provide up to 80%. It is recommended that you call and speak with your insurance plan to understand the reimbursement rate for seeing a psychologist out of network.

Yes, in the beginning of treatment clients see me on a weekly basis. As research has shown it to be more effective in making progress. Once you progress throughout treatment then we can discuss if bi-weekly is the best option for you.

Attentive: The words we use matter more than we think - I will help you catch times where we can look for more self-compassion and gentleness.
Empowering: Life can bring a thunderstorm at times, but I am there to help guide you through it and bring empowerment through it all. I will help you find your way again to the parts of life you enjoy most.
